I was fortunate enough to spend my Valentine's morning helping out a friend who works for Behnaz Sarafpour. It was absolutely amazing. The clothes are beautifully crafted. I like the fact that Behnaz creates wearable, classic clothes that work for any woman no matter her age or body type. I was able to see a preview of the clothes a week before and help out with hand-beading on one of the garments.
The collection was presented not as a regular runway show, but as a presentation where the models had a mock photo shoot.

R.I.P. Alexander McQueen
"I think the idea of mixing luxury and mass-market fashion is very modern — wearing head-to-toe designer has become a bit passé. It’s a new era in fashion — there are no rules. It’s all about the individual and personal style, wearing high-end, low-end, classic labels, and up-and-coming designers all together. " -Alexander McQueen
I was so shocked to hear the news of McQueen taking his own life, right on the start of fashion week. The fashion industry is harsh; you have one bad collection and the editors rip you to shreds and sometimes it's too much for people to handle.
I have followed McQueen since day one. While everyone in my high school fashion class was doing research on ridiculous designers such as Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren, I did mine on McQueen. I loved the risks he took and the clothing he made were like pieces of art. I was fortunate enough to come across a fur jacket of his during my time working at the consignment store. Since we didn't sell fur, they sold it to me for $25. I looked up the retail value online and it was $5,000! I will be wearing it Sunday for NY Fashion Week as a tribute to one of the greatest designers of our time.

When you should draw the line
Lines and curves can make or break a design. When constructing a new garment, the darts or seams have to lay in the right places to accentuate the body and hug the curves perfectly. I love how the photographer worked with the lines of fit in the garments and incorporated it into the background through shadows, lines and curves. The use of architectural lines and balloons draw the eye to the important, more detailed parts of the garment. Such a beautiful, all around amazing editorial!

The shadows of the blinds lead the eye to the dramatic back:
The shadows draw the eye to the detail of the dress on the side:
I love how they positioned the model into a curved position that follows the shape of the wall and the lines on her dress and shoes mirror the background:
My two favorite pictures below. The background is sharp and hard, but the dresses are fluid and beautifully draped
