Into the great wide open

I saw these pictures on Pamela Love's blog and it brought back memories of all the road trips my parents and I used to take around Arizona. When I went back to visit a few weeks ago, we were driving up to Glove to pick up some vintage jewelry from my mom's friend's shop and it finally hit me how beautiful the desert scenery is. Having lived in Arizona my whole life, I never appreciated the desert landscape because I didn't know anything else but that. Now that I live in New York, I finally get to see greenery. Walking through Central Park when the leaves are changing is the experience I always wanted, but there are times where I really miss the familiarity and landscape of home.

You can see the influence of Pamela Love's Fall 2010 collection from her trip to the Southwest. She is growing more and more with each collection and she has become one of my favorite designers for the moment. This collection reminds me of going shopping with my grandmother and mother when I was little to all the antique stores collection gigantic pieces of southwestern influenced jewelry. I now wear the pieces that my grandmother so lovingly wore to remind me of where I came from and no matter how many miles away I am from them, there's always a piece of them with me.
